How To Maintain And Clean An Electric Canopy For Patio?

Maintaining and cleaning an electric patio canopy helps extend its lifespan and keep it functioning smoothly. 

This is our suggestion to assit you on how to do in details.

Regular Cleaning

Fabric Canopy:

Dust: You can use a soft bristled brush to remove loose dirt, leaves or debris. You can do this monthly to prevent dust buildup.

Wash with mild soap: You can also mix a solution of warm water and mild detergent like dish soap in a bucket. Then you can dip a soft sponge or cloth into the solution and gently wipe the fabric. Please avoid using harsh chemicals like bleach, abrasive cleaners as they can damage the UV resistant coatings.

Rinse: If possible, you can also use a garden hose with a gentle spray to rinse off soap residue. Let the canopy dry completely before retracting it. Please note the moisture trapped when folded can cause mold.

Stubborn Stains: For stubborn stains such as bird droppings, you can clean with the soapy solution with a soft brush. Please clean it immediately.

Frame and Hardware:
You can gently wipe down the aluminium frames with a damp cloth to remove dirt or grime. For rust prone areas, please remember to dry it thoroughly before retract it into the full cessette.

Mechanical Maintenance

Keep tracks and rails clear: Please regularly check the retraction tracks for debris like dirt, twigs that could jam the mechanism. You can use a dry cloth to clean them.

Lubricate moving parts: Every 6–12 months, you can apply a silicone-based lubricant to hinges, gears and the motor's moving components. This ensures smooth retraction and extension of our electric patio awning canopy.

Test motor function: You need to operate the canopy fully open and close a few times monthly to keep the motor and gears active. If you notice unusual noises like grinding or squeaking or slow movement, stop using it and contact us as soon as possible.

Other Care Tips

Before harsh weather: Please retract the canopy during heavy rain, snow or strong winds to prevent damage. If it gets wet, please extend it to dry completely once the weather turns good.

Winter storage: If you live in a cold climate, please clean the canopy thoroughly. You need to let it dry then retract it fully. Cover the motor with a waterproof cover to protect it from snow and moisture.

Avoid These Mistakes

Never retract a wet or dirty canopy into our full cessette box as the moisture and debris can cause mold, mildew or mechanical jams.

Don't use pressure washers on high settings as they can tear fabric or damage the motor.

Please do not use abrasive tools like scrub brushes, steel wool on fabric or frames as they can easily scratch our fabric or aluminium frame surfaces.
